Did anyone watch the programme on Channel 4 last week with Mark Evans following the recreation of the nine "missing" Jaguar XKSS cars, the cars famously destroyed in the Browns Lane factory fire of February 12th 1957?
It was interesting for many reasons (and I have to say that I do like Mark Evans's presentation style), but one thing that interested me particularly was the number of Series 1 and other Land-Rovers that were being recreated in the background. The assembly was taking place at the "Jaguar Classic" workshops at Ryton, which I assume is home to all of JLR's classic operations, hence the background eye candy. Also noteworthy and unusual was the fact that the individual suppliers were, on the whole, identified, for example the firm that is creating the engines from scratch. The programme was screened as a single continuous programme, however it appears that it is available online as a series of shorter episodes. Episode 1 can be found in the link below. The nine "continuation series" XKSS cars do also make the 70th Anniversary Defenders look cheap! Although the price has not been made public, it has been acknowledged that each car will cost over £1M, and all were sold before the first one was even built. https://www.channel4.com/programmes/jaguar.../64758-001 |

It would certainly be easy to put a large lottery win to good use!

Growing up in a Jaguar family, I certainly watched, and enjoyed it.
Visiting that "facility" was one of the highlights of last year. |
