Thanks guys, I've shown her photographs and I believe she was pleased. Interestingly i should be getting to meet its first owner this weekend, hopefully so anyway. Lucy saved from A parts shelf, 1984 110 V8

That is indeed a nice slidey-window One Ten with local adaptations.

I think the Masai Red has come up well, and personally I would have buffed it up like you have.

As Land Rover Anorak has said, those look like Stage One decals on the wings as they were never applied, as far as I know, at the factory.

Happy to learn something different, so do other NZ One Tens have them?

That’s a lovely One Ten especially with the V8 and the tray back, very useful. I like the Masai Red colour with the contrasting cab. By the way the scenery is great too. Thumbs Up

Thanks all, and I can't say I dont yet know enough about it. Hopefully when I chat to the first owner *this weekend hopefully he can shed some light on it. Ive never seen another one with them however although besides the series LR's this is the oldest one ive encountered.

After a few months I figured i'd better address the disappearance of the light, the Dip beam that vanished months ago. However a new fault began to show, the cranking became slower, and slower till one day it stopped. Entering winter this is an obvious problem, luckily I had a use of a jump battery that found new residence on the passenger floor amongst an entanglement of jumper leads.

Admittedly a few too many weeks went past, with the occasional trickle charge carrying me through, although as I mentioned we were entering winter, a time when that heater of two positions (cold - furnace) becomes a necessity. Unfortunately using that heater caused the battery to go flat, a fact I found out one evening after getting fuel.

Did I sort it out, Nope! Laughing

Coming down lovelock ave one frosty morning wrapped in the dogs blanket the tricky dance between bit of throttle brake and clutch seemingly all at once wasn't proficient enough, of course I should have had a little more choke on. It Died!

Rolled down to a set of yellow lines and parked.

The alternator rebuild kit ordered, and arrived the weekends mission was to sort this.

Amusingly the bearings were shot, front wasnt out of the ordinary but the rear seemed square, all the parts fitted however the regulator seemed different to the old one. Installed and the charging rate was 12V.
Damn!

Weirdly the following day the dash lights burned a bright white, the headlights dip (found out to be a dodgy connection) and full seemed brighter than ever. Surely not. Checked again, 17.9.
Damn!
The poor heater fan had never spun so fast, and the wipers finally moved at a modern rate.

.. few to many days .. weeks went past and headlights disappeared. Lucas, is that you??!

Nope, bulbs blew.
Damn!

New alternator ordered, fitted and new Semi Sealed Koito 5" h4's fitted Christmas day.
Perfect!

Finally all the electrical issues were sorted, Take That Lucas!

... Spoke too soon

Thanks for reading,
