I have a narrow track as key with a tailor made cover and I had a local engineering firm make some ladder racks for it.
I have carried up to five bikes on it over the years. The cover was temporary about ten years ago and I always intended to fit a hard cover and tailgate for access, but never got round to it. All the camping gear stays dry and is surprisingly accessible even with the bikes on. |

That's the idea, what roof rack is that does it clamp to side of trailer. Can you get at stuff in the trailer with bikes on if needed?

As I said above, I had the bars made, they clamp through the sides of the trailer with a spreader plate inside. The cycle racks are Thule I think, I got a deal on four from Halfords as they were end of line.
The cover was a stop gap for the first year until I made a solid cover, but it worked fine so I kept it simple. If yours is a wide track you will have a tailgate. We go away for two weeks so the trailer is full, large frame dome tent, two small overnight tents, ground sheets, wind break, beds, tables + chairs, loo, stove + gas, bbq, bike gear, tools etc. Bedding, clothes, food and the fridge go in the back of the 130 but we’ve never had a problem with kit getting wet. We are now at the stage where our three children don’t come with us or come along independently so I’m currently looking at T@b teardrop caravans for a bit of comfort, just don’t know if I can bring myself to tow a caravan 😄 I will post some more detailed pics tomorrow. |

I went a step further and changed the tub to a High Cap body with an Ifor plus roofrack

^ I'm looking at a 130 tub.... But don't want / have the time to build that onto a Sankey base. Out of interest though how long is the tub...internally.

It's a 110 tub and is a shade over 6' as I've slept in it on a camp bed before now, was just a little wary of my so called mates who hadn't cottoned on to the fact that if they'd have closed the latches on the tailgate and dropped the anti-luces on the catflap then I'd have been stuck inside

Would be nice to keep in character with a series roof as a lid. Otherwise I'm sure a local steel fabricator could knock up a lid relatively cheaply?
You need to think if you want to be able to open the lid with the bikes fitted? That would obviously mean a strong lid and hinges! If you want design ideas from the lid on our camp trailer just ask. Thanks James
I've gone through my old folder of Sankey ideas... Found what I need to make and I think this would work. Then I can fit rack (would like one lower...) but I already have I think a Thule one, then attached the Thule upright bike carriers to this. This way we can load, unload without having to take the bikes off. I've got so many jobs on at the moment not sure when this will get done... Need to order some wood |

My roof rack setup. Standard roped canvas 100% watertight. All my kit accessible from either the tailgate or front end. Rack quickly and easy removed for original trailer.
