What is your budget? When I was looking I ended up buying new as there wasn't much difference in the price of a good quality example and a new one. Generally you save the VAT and a couple of hundred pounds. That coupled with the fact there are many stolen ones around I decided to bit the bullet...worth a thought!
They also hold their value well if you want to sell on. |

This^ 2nd hand is almost as expensive as new and often the brakes etc need replacing which costs quite a bit on Ifor Williams. Buy new, underseal it with Bilt Hamber or Dinitriol and away you go, a trailer for life. Also i would sheath the brake cables (i used 25mm blue water pipe) and tie them to the axles which to my suprise, Ifor Williams do not do. What usually happens is that the cables swing around and break and the wire seizes. |

I’ve found that prices second hand seem to vary quite a bit. Some look like good deals, whilst others appear overpriced.
No rush and will keep brand new in mind, despite being unable to reclaim VAT 2015 90 Hard Top 1998 90 300Tdi - chuffed to have another one 2013 Freelander 2 - for posher trips to the shop 1996 300 Tdi 90 Hard Top - sold 19th June 2020 - miss it, loved it 2016 90 Hard Top - demolished Nov 2019 by young driver 3.5 times over the drug limit 2010 90 Hard Top - now sold Ex mil 90 - now sold |

Bare in mind that Ifor Williams trailers disappear faster than Land Rover Defenders and therefore there are lots on the second hand market that at first look cheap but immediately raise suspicions with regards to their provenance. The legitimate second hand trailers on the other hand command good prices.
The last two IW trailers that I bought, a GD64 and a HB511 horse trailer were purchased new with a discount and were, as previously stated not much dearer than good condition second hand ones. If you look after them and keep them in good order then they will keep their price. Defender 90XS SW Mini Countryman Cooper S Morgan Plus 8 |

I bought an almost new GD85 about 10 years ago to replace an old Sankey. As a single axle it’s allowed at the local tip which was one of the reasons I bought it. It’s been a great trailer, highly recommended.

I did consider the single axle option. But our tip limits trailer length to 6’.
Anyway, I’ve made offers on a couple, one of which is now sold, the other one seemed to warrant a reaction, which immediately made me not wish to continue further negotiations Must admit that the thought of being turned away from the tip may be worth further consideration no problem with the Sankey that way. 2015 90 Hard Top 1998 90 300Tdi - chuffed to have another one 2013 Freelander 2 - for posher trips to the shop 1996 300 Tdi 90 Hard Top - sold 19th June 2020 - miss it, loved it 2016 90 Hard Top - demolished Nov 2019 by young driver 3.5 times over the drug limit 2010 90 Hard Top - now sold Ex mil 90 - now sold |
