Not unless you got the tools to do it!! How would you get the update into the vehicle and check everything was running ok? If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!
Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

Bavarian Motor (Works) innit.
Or Bayerische Motoren (Werke) if you're actually German. Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion. |

Maybe try talking to someone like Gary at Alive. Maybe he can sort you out by using the ATRIC?.... You could also get a modified map too at a fraction of the cost of the type Bri has linked.

Hi
Ill add a little info to help. To have a software update correctly installed on the car a remapping tool will just not work as the update was intended from landrover, The Dealer VBF files used to make a correct ecu software update are in 3 parts not 1 as used in all remapping tools. The remapping tool only programs PART of the ecu where the mapping structures are stored and a small part of the base ecu software, The main software of the ecu is not changed when a remapping tool is used hence why they dont add programming records You will need something like a Blackbox Soloutions Faultmate MSV2 "with built in remote remap capeability" if you require it, or Autologic possibily or as already said above an IDS/SDD dealer level tool. After the calibration update is done it then needs a pilot correction update, this will need to be compleated to finalise programming correctly which makes the running and efficency of the particular cars injectors and fuel pump match the new calibration update programed into the ecu. Typical something that a lot of dealers mis or fail to complete correctly after a program as most are so pressed for time. Pete |

Thanks for the info. I guess I will get the dealer to do the update but of course now I am worried they won't do it correctly.

I had numerous issues with a software update and subsequent incompatability issues with my Autologic remap...Even when done correctly it can highlight other issues... http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic3243.h...patability Software updates can be a bain, and eat up avaliable slots in your ECU! I no longer have software updates. People in my opinion rush to have them because they are free....and they think their vehicle will perform like a Formula 1 car afterwards, I did!!! I work on the principle if your vehicle is running sweet and you are happy with it and there are no major mechanical or safety issues....If it ain't broke it doesn't need fixing!!!! If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |
