I know that most of you guys are sweet on BFG's and I am very sure that they are a wonderful tire, but for what I need, they are not the most practical, so I am looking at either ggrabbersa AT2's or at Toyo Open Country.
My real question is what kind of differences will I be finding if I go with a 265/75/16 rather than the original 235/85/16? I know with the 75's: My speedo will be off a bit,but it is already accordingto GPS... My reves will be up a bit...but I am not too much of a hot foot I will get more clearance in the parking structures here in Swisslandia I will have a beefier stance with the 265's anything wlse I am missing? Oh an dthe reason BFG's are more or less out of the question is they run about 40 bucks more per tire and it seems that for what we do, Highway and snow driving with very very limited off road I can save the 120... thanks for the thoughts and comments, John 2008 Defender 110 60 year Edition (sold unfortunately) IN the hunt for another Puma for the wifey! 2008 Kia Sorento LX 😁 2.5crdi |

The 235's stand .08" higher than the 265's. If you put the 265's on 6.5" rims they may rub on the right tyre at full left hand lock. Original Member Pie n Pea Club.

265s are a bit wider and look better IMHO - the gearing / rev issues are so negligible you won't notice them.
I put 265s on the 90 with no perfomance issues at all - look much better though. I had been a big BFG fan for years but had been running Cooper STs on the 90 - very pleased with them as an AT tyre. John http://www.hampshire4x4response.co.uk 2011 Tdci 110 CSW XS |

Many people rave about BFGs but they are changing/have just changed ALL their compounds and reports of wear are not great compared to the previous compounds. It really depends on what you use the vehicle for in terms of tyre you choose and tyre size. For me there is little point in choosing 265's "because they look better" as you will lose some steering lock unless you put on spacers, and spacers will invalidate your warranty when it comes to any suspension, wheel bearing, swivel housing issues etc (assuming your vehicle is under warranty). You will definitely have to adjust your steering lock stops anyway as the tyres will rub on the radius arms at full lock - winding them out (which you'd need to do) will cause loss of lock unless you have spacers, then you can wind them the other way and get more lock. If you say what your intended use for the vehicle is then I'm sure everyone could be of more help. |

What tyres were on the vehicle? TRs? if so i d be tempted to stick with those and get a set of nokians for winter.
