Its been a while but another £2000 of work to get it to a good mechanical standard for the road, its now road legal and fully MOT'ed!
Im not happy with the repair done on the door bottoms so its going back to the bodyshop to sort out as its broken off and a few cracks and chips. The doors dont quite line up but ill have to go to a LR specialist for that I think. Also I need to secure header tank and windscreen wash tank to the wings but thats about it really, BUT finally have full set of seats I got for £100 bargain! just needs a good clean. I also won a NAS spec Exmoor trim StayFast Mohair hood for £360 on ebay last Thursday so thats on its way right now. I am about to order the Purely Metal HD Hoodstick set for £522 so its coming together! The 37" 12.50 17" BFG KM2 were sold for more reasonably sized almost new 35" 12.50 15" BFG KO2 on offset black mods. Im thinking ill put it on ebay for £12,000 in two weeks time once the hoodsticks are on. What are everyones opinions on the value of it considering the chassis is original with new rear x member and a few chassis patches but bulkhead is mint. The mileage is 180,000 miles but thats irrelevant really with a refurbed defender I guess. I sold it to a nice lad from Newbury, Im dropping it off to him Tuesday after work, Got £9000 for it in the end which is fair considering it needs some minor finishing off but that's the end of this story! and Im pretty happy I got nearly all of my money back!
