Problem with the plastic cover was it was always easy to. Forget and the number of times we’ve turned around to find it sat on top of the pump, well so say it was a lot would be an understatement. One benefit of the cover though became evident on our Cape Town to London trip, the almost inevitable diesel spill around the filler didn’t become caked in dust leaving the cap free of debris and potential for contaminants getting in to the fuel reduced as well as keeping your hands cleaner. Traveling through Ethiopia along mud roads the cover also kept the mud out of the filler pocket. Getting back to the UK is always a time to reflect on what worked on the truck and what didn’t. The cover actually did work well apart from it wasn’t secured and offer no additional security as it was only a push fit, so the Defender Fuel FillerGuardTM was born one evening over a few pints of Yorkshires best.
