Interesting. People are willing to throw thousands of pounds worth of bling at their vehicles yet begrudge paying to have it serviced.

Interesting point. Personally I am happy to pay for the very best available. I have tried 4 main dealers closest to me, some with excellent reputations, but I found both the quality of their work and knowledge of Defenders sadly lacking. My local indy specialist does far superior work in every respect using genuine or wherever ever possible uprated parts. All at a fraction of the cost.
I can do without the frothy coffee, biscotti and mints. A decent cuppa and a hobnob will suffice.

From what I have seen main dealers put all of their resources into front of house sales. Specifically selling finance on Range Rover chavmobiles. Their service departments tend to manned by a couple of inexperienced mechanics or apprentices because all the decent ones go on to work for, or set up their own specialist outfits.

I think we realise the car needs servicing... and after all we would all rather see 'Full Land Rover Service History" on any used car we purchase.. But sometimes we feel a service is not "value for money" at a dealers. ( well we know it isn't !)

However..Personally I always use a main dealer, and always negotiate
I look at the value it adds rather than the cost it is.

just my tuppence

Unfortunately someone has to pay for those funky and large Land Rover / Jaguar dealerships that are being built - thankfully not me Laughing
