A video of review. I suspect the Fridge was provided FOC by Bearmach to the reviewer, but interesting nonetheless.

I bought a Snomaster whist on holiday in Portugal.
Great bit of kit.
Very impressed.
Those seem a bit cheap but i might be wrong.

FWIW, Snomaster and Waeco (at least, they're the only ones I've owned) both use Chinese compressors.

The Waeco's is from the Guangzhou Wanbao UCT Compressor Co Ltd. A very catchy name. I forget where the Snomaster's compressor came from but it was a similarly memorable company. Obviously the Waeco contains a "genuine Waeco" compressor and the Snomaster contains a "genuine Snomaster" compressor, but neither of them actually make compressors.

Nothing necessarily wrong with stuff from China so long as what's been specified is good. Ask for good stuff, you'll get good stuff. Ask for cheap crap, you'll get cheap crap.

Interesting to see that Mobicool. Price is good. It’s it not awkward having the compressor unit above part of the storeage area? Most others are opposite way, so you can put stuff above the compressor. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

there is room under the comressor to put stuff on the waeco. the price was the best size/value unit i could find at the time. excellent unit, gets alot of use by us and never missed a beat. cools down from power on in no time. can also be used as a freezer if you set it low enough.

I’m tempted by the Mobicool FR60 model. Can get it for £350 delivered from German camping suppliers. The specs show it to have a lower power consumption than the FR40 too for some reason. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

I have a 40Ltr Engel. It was expensive but works on both 12v and 240v. Have had it since 1996 and it's never missed a beat. Worth paying the money for in my opinion.

Very happy with my Snomaster 40l. A 110ah leisure battery lasts about 2½ days in mid summer in the back of my 90.

We have had our National Luna since 2005 been used a lot including continues for 9 months driving back from Cape Town. Important to us as the wife is on Insulin which we have to keep cool, managed fine at over 40 deg in Sudan. Still going strong and will get another long trip this year.
Was expensive but worth it.

After starting this thread with a mind to buying a brand new budget fridge, I changed my mind and bought a used ARB that arrived today.

Well after much deliberation I have gone down the Mobilcool FR40 fridge. It's a good price from SVB and IMHO with it being a Dometic family product and kinda Waeco cousin then I have high hopes for it.

More when It appears.. Also can be found on Fb, Ytube, Insta & Twitter @4WDSouthwest
