My output shaft did fail on the M40 in pretty atrocious weather conditions, luckily traffic was not too heavy and I was able to coast to the hard shoulder. Not something I would like to repeat.

The BMW recall in the UK was largely as a result of a campaign by a "watchdog" type TV program I think?

Maybe we need to get some publicity the same way?

From what I understand the TV created the publicity and then the recall was ordered by VOSA or whoever.
It wasn't voluntary by BMW.

... and one does not realize anything. Some sort of a gap between pushing and pulling - the video explains it.

Surprisingly I had a similar experience with my TD5 R380 gearbox with a few thousand kilometres on it. It was a recent reconditioned one. Anybody have similar experience with the R380?
It’s being fixed under warrantee, but still quite inconvenient
