Defender booked in at Hunters Guildford for second service.
Enquired the price before I rock up - £924 inclusive. Is this a record?! Now cancelled it.............. Any ideas where I can get this service done within an hour or two? I'm keen to have a main dealer carry this out to maintain the service record, at least for this service. |

I had my second service carried out by main dealer for £520, that was two years ago but you will have to be prepared to shop around as they will want to charge you circa £1,000 initially.
JLR have recently introduced what they call Land Rover 3 Fixed Price. For a four year service this is basically the same checks as standard service but excludes changing axle, g/box and transfer oils. I've just booked mine in for a four year service but as I've only done 14,000 miles then I'm not worried about the above oil changes. Charge is £495 inc labour, parts and VAT Defender 90XS SW Mini Countryman Cooper S Morgan Plus 8 |

Had the same problem Dunc and went to Challenger 4x4. Much cheaper, all genuine parts used and Topix updated correctly to keep the warranty up.

Check the LR website cost and the Inchcape site (assume hunters is now Inchcape?) I found Inchcape site was £300 cheaper than the LR site......

Found Inchape Southampton were the cheapest in the Hants, Berks, Surrey, Sussex, Oxon, Dorset area when I wnet for my D4 service last year - they were still co side rally more expensive than Keith Gott though so went there.

Interesting. People are willing to throw thousands of pounds worth of bling at their vehicles yet begrudge paying to have it serviced. It is not a Defender, it is a One_Ten

Spoke to a technician who used to work for Hunters in Garstang before it moved and they stated that they were only allowed to spend half an hour on servicing a car!! Jeff

Hunters were rubbish and very expensive hence I always took my Defender to Lakeland Land Rover at Torver, they know Defenders well as they are in a farming area.
