From our actual expereince this is rubbish.

My discovery was a total loss, no fault, after someone was speeding drunk, left the road and hit my disco writing it off.

Insurance (with protected no-claims) went down at renewal.

Same after a minor shunt my wife had - no issues - price didnt go up!

From my actual experience, my premium shot up when some goon crashed into the back of my shiny R32 Golf. No fault, all costs recovered. I asked the insurer WHY it went up, they told me the same story x-isle's mate was spun. So it's not total rubbish is it?

Some may still go down anyway but I can bet my left ear it won't be by as much as what it would have been without a "claim."

I also got badly stung when I dared to claim when the R32 got vandalised (failed attempts at nicking the wheels). I would probably have got less penalised if I'd got 6 points for speeding. it appears any claim is a "crime."

Insurance is an industry that can only be frowned upon. But it's essential. Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion.

Sorry for the late reply, I have been abroad. I have a 250 excess to *replace* the screen, my understanding is that a Defender heated screen is a bit more than that.

I shall see what autoglass say, I think the repair is about 40 quid, so not worth bothering with insurance as, as said, it will only up the premium. Its expensive enough for the line of work I am in.... 2011 110 USW
