Relay chatter in TD5 - likely cause?

Hi,

Any advice please!

My 110 TD5 is currently off road suffering a couple of small woes, and I haven't used it for 2 weeks. Came back tonight to hear a loud relay chatter coming from under the nearside wing, to the front. This would clatter for a few seconds, and then alternate with a further chatter coming from inside the car, which I traced to a brown relay in front of the gear stick.

I presume it's an alarm issue, as in removal of the relay the alarm rather pathetically went off! i didn't try starting the car and neither did the central locking[img] work. I've disconnected the battery to stop the chatter.

Any tips on a way forward, at the very least I need to get my car over to the garage next week.I suspect I'll need to get a bit charge into the battery, too...

A couple of things to try

Possibly a low battery issue. Pop it on a charger and see if that helps.
If not
Then take the bbus off as it could be that the battery in the bbus is shot

Thanks Chopcat. I’ll charge the battery and see if that helps.

I’ve read a bit about the BBUS and will look further to see how to take it off. I presume it’s somewhere around the headlamp unit?
