The Ghost in the Machine.

Strange problem with the radio in my 2007 Tdci Defender. It will switch itself on and off at will. Some summer nights when I leave the bedroom window open I am awakened at silly o'clock to the sound of my radio playing away. I mentioned the problem to a friend of mine and he said "Ah - the ghost in the machine!" Anybody out there have any ideas?

Hi I had the same problem only solution was to change it, trashed my battery before I found out what it was purely by accident by passing the vehicle in the early hours and hearing it on, funnily it was never on when I went to drive it in the morning.

Traffic announcements do that sometimes.

I remember a couple years ago I ran outside cricket bat in hand about 5 or so times because I thought people were trying to nick the ST, only after I went out there once I realised it was on TA.

For whatever reason when the engine/ECU was off the radio switched to a second set of settings. For the strangest reason there aren’t any relays or switches to turn the radio to off on some cars, it just puts it on standby. I'm on IG: https://www.instagram.com/osloblue42/
