Oh boy... TD4 problems...
Ok. i have my MY 2007 puma defender 4 years now!
already got an extra year warranty for all the problems:

Heated seat not working
Clutch was disintegrated
ABS TC Problems
EGR problems
etc...

And very rarely when I turn my key , the engine cranks 1 or 2 rotations and stops ...
This is SOOO annoying . and usually the car starts after i called the dealer :s , and they cant find a single DTC.
Also when I arrive at my destination , and turn the key and pull it out : The Land rover keeps running :S !
Its very awkward to hold your key while your engine is running . I also cant replicate this infront of the dealer!
its pretty random. and kinda dangerous.

ATM I am booked again for a DTC check ... and I am noticing that the dealer is starting to get annoyed...
What should I do? Big Cry

thanks in advance !! Discovery 4 SDV6 Landmark

It's booooring, but have your mobile phone ready and record a video everytime you turn on the key .... one time it will be recorded .... then you can show it ... just a thought .... Idea Regards

There may be 1000 reasons for the problem but I had the same problem with a Rover 420 ( company car and it does have rover in the title so don't throw insults Rolling with laughter )

It was a bad earth due to the paint not being removed under a contact after the front end was replaced. ( drove into the side of a bridge off a slip road , what I did to get rid of that car )

It is kinda funny when you take the key out , get ou and then realise the car is still running. 2011 Defender XS 110 Station Wagon - Rejected

Wouldn't this awful problem point towards an ignition problem? Earth or otherwise?

Fuel pump stop solenoid would be the first thing I would be putting a multimeter onto next time it happens. Just in case it is a sticking solenoid or if not it would then give you a starting point to trace the fault back to the ignition module. And as you will have the connection off, give it a clean and a spray of ACF-50 to help conductivity.
