The target audience needs "STOP" and "GO' on the pedals.

Well, they would say that, wouldn't they. They are hardly going to admit to a leaked photo. Other than being "too beige", I think it looks fine; better than the puma stuff anyway |

Style is a matter of opinion. The original dash was functional, and not stylish.
I would say that the picture shows that LR are creating a utilitarian vehicle with three seats (essential for me, like my work van) that has rubber on the floor. Again essential. I would like ZERO tech, but am clearly not going to get that, so as long as the tech it does have is simple and reliable, I might be interested as the basic body shape looks promising. V8 90...WIP |

The original dash was indeed functional and not stylish.
It would look good on the new Defender. Click image to enlarge |

I reckon there's a good chance that the vehicle In the photo is an EV, going by the controls. I am less confident that it is the interior of the production Defender

I was trying to be ironic with my 'timeless' post!
Joking apart though, I've had LR's since 1973 & I have to say that probably the perfect dash was the S1 & think that it wouldn't have been too difficult to make a modern day S1 dash...simplicity being the key. Also IMHO I think the Puma dash was and still is leap years ahead of the earlier Defender (not Series) dash, truly awful...& I still have a Wolf so can easily compare. And as for the OCD vent...my wife was having a 'hot flush'!!! Since 1973...S1, Air Portable's, Defender's, but only my Wolf TUL HS GS remains Last edited by Fat Cog on 17th Feb 2019 7:23pm. Is that knob to the right of the steering wheel the handle of a hairdryer, with space for a brush and
some curlers to the side of it? It would make sense, as they don't want to alienate the target customers for the rest of their current range.... Joking apart, as soon as prices from £40,000 upwards were mentioned, I'm afraid I'm only ever going to be looking at other people's. |

April 1st has come early this year it seems. Steve.
Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW. [Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc] http://forums.lr4x4.com I used to be Miserable ...but now I'm ecstatic. |

Do you think that the person who designed that dash was also responsible for the Fiat Multipla? It is truly hideous. Not sure if this is true or not but LR told the original poster of this picture to remove it from their site or wait for the lawyers.

That would be for the US market because of legal reasons if some one by misstake was hitting the accelerator while thinking it was the brake pedal at a pedastrian crossing. The tricky bit it is that you can notl see the text down there when you are driving. That is why it is obviously not the final interior. In the production model the dash will be of transperent plastic so you can see the text on the pedals while driving, asuming you do not have your feet on the pedals. |

I always thought that LR missed a trick with the Disco2.
When I bought mine in 2002, I was intrigued by the fact that the clutch and brake pedal rubbers had the letter "L" prominently on them, presumably L for Landrover. If it had been my decision, I would have put L for Land on the clutch and R for Rover on the brake. This would have been of assistance for the many drivers today who have trouble differentiating left from right. |

Watching a smith and sniff video on YouTube about the new Touareg , it was mentioned that the new defender may feature gesture control. So quite a 'techy' dashboard like the picture would fit with that theme.
