TD5 thermostat

Anyone know what the typical life of these are?
Sitting in traffic at -15C, the engine temp will drop by about 1/4. Heat is marginal. No coolant loss issues.
I believe thermostat may still be the original from 2003.

That's quite normal behaviour. Diesel engines just don't produce enough heat at tickover or low speeds to maintain the temperature. Darren

Sounds very normal to me. My 2000MY thermo is still original. If you want warmth at idle get thee a Wabasto.

If not get a rad muff but at speed youneed to open it up so it can be annoying. Or better yet install heated seat elements.

Lol....have the seat heaters already as she is an XS.
Webasto is already mounted in the engine bay and plumbed to the diesel tank....just awaiting a new exhaust pipe before completing the install.....

My 110 has been sitting the past few weeks. The RRSC is just so much warmer and nice to drive around in this deep freeze and snow.

I have a nanocom version 1 always connected and I notice that when normal driving the temperature is about 90 C but in slow traffic it drops to about 70C or lower and that is with temps around freezing. With the heater at full blast I can get it to 60C.

I just don't understand where all the heat goes.
