Cooper Discoverer STT or STT Pro
Hi guys,

Does anybody have any experience with Cooper Discoverer STTs and STTs Pros?

I'm interested to know the differences between the 2, which one people think is the better out of the 2 etc?

AFAIK the STT Pro is the newer version so logically should be the better tyre but wondered if forum members agreed?

Currently have General Grabber AT2s on mine which have pretty decent balance of road noise and off road capability but heard a lot of good stuff about Coopers!! Cool

The STT Pro is quite popular here, people seem to like them. That or BFG MT seem to be the tyre of choice. ---

KM2 here for me.

STT's someone I knew moved away from after a while and wanted what I have because of their noise on the STT.

Regarding the KM3 or STT PRO I couldn't comment though. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

Interesting, we have 33x12.50R15 KM2 on all three of ours, always felt there was quite a lot of noise and vibration compared to my original MT KM set but we happily live with that for the off-road performance as they are just better than everything else.

I had wondered if the Coopers would be quieter and had considered swapping, but it doesn't sound like it would gain anything! ---

Ultimately they are all noisy just some seem to be a little more than others. Sometimes itโ€™s due to lower pressure than they should be too. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

Thanks for the replies guys!

BFGs have always been a popular choice for build quality and performance. James did your customers say what it was they felt the Coopers were lacking or what the BFGs give them over and above the STT?

As Steve said all MUDs will be noisy but anything to bring road noise down in a Defender is a bonus. Laughing

The Coopers seem to be a really popular choice in Australia and I figured Aussies must know a good tyre given how much off roading the guys do. Cool

It wasn't so much a case of saying anything, more so whilst they, stts, looked good and were seen as good value I guess they got fed up not making it and having to go around sections or being winched out I guess.

This excludes the pro. Not had anyone down on those yet. But stt certainly just didn't cut the mustard over the grasslands, gravel, rocky, muddy sections that we use. Cheers

We have run LR and RR for over 40 years (since 1973) and have a fair bit of experience with tyres from every make. Personally I prefer the Coopers, size for size they are wider than BFG and the BFG always seem to perish prematurely and in my opinion the Cooper grip better on tarmac - off road there is no discernible difference

Personally although MTR's are noisier than other types of tyre, it's not something I've ever worried about or found to be anything I've been bothered about.
In fact it was listening to chat about MTR's being noisy and various scare stories with going to wider tyres particularly MTR's that put me off originally.
But, I did still wanted them and went 235/85/R16 great tyres but 255/85/R16 I then went to after was even better.
Really, what I should have gone with originally.
No spacers needed, and just steering lock adjustment and that was it.

Everyone has their likes and dislikes, I don't ever really hard off road but do end up often in the odd difficult situation and the KM2's have never let me down ever not once. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

Thanks Steve, can see why the BFGs are so highly thought of Thumbs Up

Interesting feedback Grouse, which Coopers were you impressed with and do you have experience with the STTs and STT Pros as a comparison on each other?

I have the STT Pro's and can't fault them. Not noisy at all, great grip on road and especially off road in mud and the recent snow, cheap compared to others and no issues with them at all.

Not had the others so cant compare with them.

Thanks Danny, the STT Pros seem to receive a lot of positive reviews which is what has made me consider them

I had stt pro and returned them to cooper.
All had what they called heel and toe wear condition...
It might have been the fact that i do a lot of motorway and long journeys.
I wouldn't buy anymore of them.
Gone back to the bfg all terrains.
