Drivers seat (base)
Flame me if I have missed a previous thread Very Happy I am new, but have searched! Have any of you chaps had problems with the base of your defender seats giving up the ghost? Surely the base should have some comfort/padding after 5K miles. OK-I'm only 6'3" and 19 stone, covered 1000 miles max in my "new" vehicle (I am light on my feet though Very Happy ) The seat is already knackered?

Another warranty issue?? Rolling Eyes

Hi Nick,
I'm 6ft 3ins and 18 stone, had my defender 12 months, 11000 miles no problem with the seat, still really comfy even after 3 hours at a time behind the wheel. I can't even say i have a problem with elbow room, unlike a few others.
Definately think it's a one off.
Cheers
Steve

Have you got cloth or vinyl seats?

My td5 vinyl seats only lasted about 7 months before they began to tear. Think it depends how often you get in and out (I spend a lot of time getting in and out to open and shut gates Rolling Eyes )
Made sure that the puma ive ordered will have cloth seats (only 3 months to go Very Happy )

I have cloth seats, I must admit they are a lot comfier than my TD5's. I have back problems and the higher seat back offers more support. I'm in a dilema whether or not to raise the drivers seat with slate batten, probably invalidate any warranty Rolling Eyes

18 stone and 48k in 3 1/2 years on cloth seats and they are still ok, not quite as new but not failing or thin in any way.

our XS drivers seat split on the outer edge, 30 months old 30k miles, fixed under warranty because we had side steps fitted ! would have been rejected by LR otherwise. 2.4 90 XS

6'3" and 17st and 50,000 miles on the clock and seats going strong. Perhaps swap driver's and passenger seat bases? Might be a good tip all round to prolong seat lives?
