Basic tweaks worth doing if you are on the tarmac more than the mud are:
EGR removal 1.2 transfer box conversion (usual is 1. 4 - see notes on https://www.ashcroft-transmissions.co.uk/t...t-230.html larger intercooler (Allisport make an excellent one) Re-map (many suppliers - have used JE Engineering for 3 re-maps) Makes the whole distance experience much more pleasurable - particularly if you throw in some soundproofing! ******** Best Duncan 2006 110 Td5 CSW / 2001 90 Td5 ragtop lhd / 2017 Disco sport / XK120 |

Not sure how I feel about the cruise control..
I was driving back from a meal out (about 40 mins drive from home)the other night (which the food and full belly may have been a contributing factor)... But with the heat on, long plain boring motorways, I felt quite drowsy, I would prefer to be in control of the truck, I think having the cruise control and just cruising along would just send me to sleep lol Id be too relaxed. Each to their own though ay .. Regards Adam Loving The Duchess The Defender 110 TD5 XS My Defender story - http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic64005.html |

I use my cruise control very regularly. It's especially handy in 50mph roadworks with average speed cameras.
I have managed a trip from J9 of the M42 to J27 of the M5 (c.150mi) without cancelling cruise control once. Set at 68mph all the way. It was night time though so very quiet. It's gets to a stage where its pointless as traffic conditions make you cancel it all the time but I tend to dravel in the dark hours as it's less busy so it gets used a lot 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon 1990 Vogue SE Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 Td5 90 Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic50767.html Tdi 110 Thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic69562.html RRC Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic54492.html Instagram http://www.instagram.com/george_grafton |

I’ve never driven a car with cruise control...
Can definitely see it being handy on motorway driving though. I'm on IG: https://www.instagram.com/osloblue42/ Current: TD5 '110 "Lucinda" Thread here: https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic62562.html |

With a journey that long, yes I guess it would come in handy. Fortunately/sadly I don't do that sort of mileage in mine - only when we go away on holiday... Regards Adam Loving The Duchess The Defender 110 TD5 XS My Defender story - http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic64005.html |

It's not only good on the motorway, long speed limits it's helpful too
Economy isn't that much different to be honest as it will apply more throttle up hills and in a head wind to keep you at the set speed, some people in this instance might not apply as much throttle and so will drop a few mph but not use as much fuel. Its very cheap to install in a Td5 with standard gearing and only the cost of a Speedo healer more to add it to one with altered gearing 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon 1990 Vogue SE Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 Td5 90 Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic50767.html Tdi 110 Thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic69562.html RRC Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic54492.html Instagram http://www.instagram.com/george_grafton |

50mph seems best. That is with mud terrains and a soft top though haha Instagram - @Land_Rover_Defender
