My dad's got an old Frogeye Sprite in the garage that was apparently working ten years ago but I haven't known be on the road for about 20 years. I'd like to get it running so I can use it and I'm reasonably with mechanics but I don't know anything old Sprite specific.
Obviously I have access to Google but if anyone has any personal recommendations for a decent forum I'd be greateful. I only really know Defenders so I'm not familiar with any other car forums. |

Not an answer to your question but.... A friend of mine actually built them at the factory and even has his picture in the official factory book (dodgy tash and all) which he kept a copy of in his toolbox. Ray

i cannot see these been all that different to the proper mini, Id have a look at practical classics mags and classic car mags, just see if there is a club or a facebook group page. Practical classics did have a forum, not sure if thats still alive and kicking now. Edit it still is http://practically-classics.co.uk/forum/ Only thing i can advise you is to see if the engine turns over by hand, and give it an oil and filters change, also a decent battery and fuel, and see if she fires. Which i can see it fireing into life anyway, A series engines are strong little motors, expensive to fix due to the mini boys whapping up the bloody prices due to greed. My first car was my Dad’s 1966 Sprite. Still has a Glasgow Royal Infirmary parking permit from 1968 which was his last year there before he immigrated to Western Australia as a young surgeon. Still got it and in a few years will hand on to my kids to have some fun in.
I also had an MGB GT and for both cars found Moss were really good to deal with. I even had a new fuel tanked flown to Perth in less time and for less money than sourcing one within Australia. https://www.moss-europe.co.uk |
