The d4 was as good as expected. Same as my previous d3 really, effortless, main difference I found was the on Tarmac differences between the d3 and d4, d4 being better with more comfortable seats than before, smoother ride and much better power and torque on the motorway.
You do lose the driver interaction with the d4 compared with defender, you just point the vehicle in the direction and push the gas pedal. Those whom have had a d3 as well as a defender will know what I mean ![]() As for the wheels, well thats collateral damage. LR were fully aware to what I was doing, I they rung ME Monday morning to make sure the car suited my needs at the weekend. They are aware of the damage to the wheels and accept in principle there was no malicious and all I did was use the vehicle for it's intended purpose, no more than what LR would demonstrate to you at an experience centre ![]() ![]() |

Test drove a D4 last week and you are right a huge improvement on road. Sounds like it is as good off road. I miss the comfort of a D3 on long trips but wanted the simplicity and ruggedness of a Defender. Decisions-decisions!!
What parts are you waiting Tack, 2 months seems along time. |

LR is being very secretive of the actual gear box component, but I am sure my Spanish friends said the selector!?
The vehicle broke down in Spain on the 25th April and has been in the hands of LR since then. It has been back in the country for 3 weeks now. Basically LR has either fallen out with the gear box/parts supplier or I assume they may have gone bust… Its an ongoing saga, but I have a D4 to keep me in comfort for now. |

Glad to hear LR have kept you on the road. Had a similar issue with Merc a few years ago with a Transfer box, they had to make a new batch, none in Europe, luckily it only took 3 weeks.
