How to sell an Aston Martin
Hoping there is some advice from the collective car enthusiasts.

Having now moved back to Scotland, I need to organise my cars into a sensible order and so have decided to sell my Aston Martin DB9 Volante. It’s probably a stupid time of year for a rag top but I don’t have the storage anymore for everything nor the luxury of a ruddy great barn to just keep it in and enjoy on occasion.

I’m hoping it’s low mileage and maintenance helps it’s cause. It’s a 2006 with 18k miles on it and full dealer history (the receipts alone make me sick!)

My question is, how do I sell something like this. My only sales experience is 24 years in château sales which doesn’t help me much.

Good luck Thumbs Up
Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

I can recommend two excellent websites, where, in an extremely comfortable manner, you can auction your Aston.

www.bringatrailer.com (mostly US customers, but occasionally European, some UK based cars are on there).

Don´t be misled by the name. Take a look at the vehicles on there. Everything from a barn find 2CV´s to 300 SL Gullwings and all modern fast cars in between. Many US legit, (pre 99?) Defenders on there.

Photos (from every angle, in good light, well composed), short videos of a cold start, onboard and drive by, and as much history, service history and honesty about the condition works well.

People literally buy cars directly off there based on what they are shown.

The other is a similar affair specifically for the UK, European market.

www.normanspond.com

Norman Chum organizes one of the largest UK Cars and Coffee events, at his family´s Chinese Restaurant on the Mersey, and has branched out with this website.

Personally I am a fan of selling to trade specialists and as they will retail for more then a private sale, I have found the marginal cost to be worth the lack of hassle. Rob

It would certainly be easier to sell to a professional. Pictures and descriptions I am happy with, it’s the level of knowledge in the technical aspect of the car that I can’t answer. In all honesty I bought it because I wanted an Aston Martin and had the money at the time. I wish I had bought the hardtop because I never put the roof down.

Actually I wish I had just kept my 996 Porsche but that’s the story of my life!

It’s absolutely concourse condition and professionally detailed so a garage should just need to wheel it into their showroom.

I might give Bramleys a call. Mainly so I can have a walk about the place!
