Doesn’t look like I’ll be getting back tomorrow for my Christmas pint. Sorry, I meant to see the family. Might just have to spend the weekend skiing instead. Tough luck.

Not sure what the armed Five-0 are expected to do. About the same chance of Gatwick building a second runway before this has all blown over as there is of them shooting a drone down.

Plus, where will the expended round go when they miss (Max range for a .308 being between 800 and 1000m)? End up slotting a local farmer or school kid. Unless of course the Five-0s plan is to shoot the drone operator, rather than the drone, centre of mass?

That's why until very recently they ruled out shooting it/them down.

There are however many countermeasure options and I am forced to the conclusion that neither the Police nor the CAA have ever bothered to consider the risk nor mitigatiom. A hugely embarrassing wake-up for the authorities, and a good thing it appears to be a denial-of-service attack and not hostile. It would be worse it it/they had a nerve agent payload, for example.

Expect ill-conceived, rushed, and ineffective anti-drone legislation in the near future!
