Hi,

I understood it had to be done in-situ. Can it be programmed on a bench, in that case?

I've heard this from both a Ford dealership and a Bosch Diesel specialist.

No, only with the engine running and at temperature.
With Nanocom or similar

Good, because I've arranged for that to happen tomorrow.

With any luck I'll be back driving (without smoke) in the afternoon. BTW, it looks like the injector was the cause of black smoke, by over fueling. The copper seals were all fine.

On the bright side, they're done now and I found the cause of the problem anyway.

Thanks again.

pay attention, a leaking injector(s) can produce a big hole on the piston(s)!!!!

and new injectors MUST BE re-coded into the ECU!!! Discovery 5 td6 HSE Stornoway Gray Outback Engineering Limited Edition

I thought I would update this post.

It turned out all four injectors (that were in the car when I bought it) were shot. Not one of them made it to the second phase of the check test. They were also not coded to the ECU. I had driven across Europe, unaware of this.

Anyway, it turned out that the leaking injectors had been the cause of my P0234 over-boost issue, which was also causing me a headache at the time.

Land Rover whilst very nice, after a diagnostics test, had assured me it was a failed turbo. Luckily, I decided to think before i spent big money on a new turbocharger. Completely separately to the turbo problem, I decided to change the injector seals which led me to the failed injectors and ultimately to finding the solution.

Anyway, I'm happy now and after a few months the car is still running great.

Thank you.

P0234 can be triggered by leaking injectors!
