So it begins again .....as the 300tdi 110 Hard Top has now gone to a new home, rebuild tread here-
https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39192.html I took a punt on this on ebay, bought it without seeing it, will soon be making her way home across the Irish sea, always a concern buying unseen but its got a Richards Chassis and engine has only 55k...can't be too bad can it ?? Yep thats the one, I bid on it twice and was outbid....only for it to come backup for sale again as a classified !!
First impressions overall its not too bad - Decent engine, gearbox, chassis and drive train, needs a bulkhead, doors need sorting and power steering pipework is leaking. Then all the usual wear stuff like drive flanges, wheel bearings, half-shafts etc. I reckon if I put about £5k into it should sort it.... Lots to do.....Now where to start |

Made a start today, decided to start with the back axle and work my way forward -
Removed rear axle for overhauling and all the other rusty parts, I can never understand how anyone can attach rusty old parts to a nice clean Galvanised chassis Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Axle coming out. Click image to enlarge |
