Turbo Manifold Gasket Leak - Puma TDCI
Hello,

My Defender 90 has every now and then an exhaust leak from the turbo manifold and I have replaced it several times with Nakatanenga gasket, I've retightened it now and it still whistles slightly.

What would you recommend I do? I am on my second gasket now and I predominately use my Defender 90 as my daily driver.

Thank you in advance 2016 Defender 90 Adventure Edition

You could get the two mating surfaces refaced, but in the end it’s just a poor quality casting. My old one.

No personal experience on this engine but on others

Both surfaces need to be clean, flat or slightly convex, needs to be reassembled with everything cold, the exhaust system needs to be under no bias when fitted, do up the nuts loosely and tighten up a bit at a time, until all of them are at the correct torque. After you have run it upto temperature and it has cooled down re torque the nuts. DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy

It is reasonably common for the manifold-to-head gasket to do the same thing, so it might be worth checking that joint too.
