That was my doing Steve. I openly invited Zed to discuss other topics than French riots. That picture doesnt bother me. It's the least offensive thing Americans see and hear throughout a normal day absorbing US media. It's much less offensive than the soft coup being perpetrated by the opposition party right now.

Too late for that, it did. Not much, if anything, sensible has been said about the actual topic subject. Understandable, because most on here are too removed from it. But it is interesting to see certain positions advocated here. Tells a lot about certain people, really enlightening. Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw Last edited by ericvv on 7th Dec 2018 8:09pm. I like Zed's posts because they are constantly slipping into Islington Stalinism.
One post said "normal" people laugh at.... So if you disagree, you are clearly not "normal"? And recently he says "Trumps rhetoric finds favour with extremists over here" which means that if you agree with what Trump is doing, you are an"extremist" and must, presumably, be a member of a tiny neo-Nazi minority. On TV the other day, a left-wing Oxford professor began his statement by saying "Anyone who is not a fool will see....." So again, if you disagree you must be a "fool" and you really shouldn't be allowed to express an opinion. Watch out for this condescending claptrap from the Socialist squires on their personal Broadcasting channel (which you fools, extremists and abnormals are paying for.) Once aware of it you will notice more of it. |

Umm....well the good news is that Macron has abandoned his planned January tax raid on fuel and two of the largest unions who had decided to join the GJ protests in Paris tomorrow have asked their members to stay home.
It’s unlikely the French Nick Clegg Alike accidental President will survive, such was his blindness to this (they actually announced they were putting MPs wages up 27% and giving them 68% more expenses 3 days before the first planned protest) sense of real injustice that a huge percentage of the French people are feeling. Anyone travelling through France this holiday season should be ok, worth having an extra jerry can in the back though would be my advice. |

Cheers Slidey but I'm definitely not into "Islington Stalinism" That would also be extremism. I am definitely a moderate. Or perhaps moderate with attitude. I have no problem with you or anyone else expressing an opinion (within forum rules) but it's very telling that you throw your toys out the pram if anyone disagrees. |

Drove the length of France last week, in the Defender, from Spain via Lyon and Eperney to the tunnel.
20 min delay just over the border, only 2 toll booths open, a lot of peaceful protesters with no apparent central organisation insisting on a friendly chat. "Today no tolls" (saved around £100)! Overhead displays said motorway closed around 100km into France, by the time we got there it was open again. Quite a few exits closed, very light traffic. Several local fuel stations closed but most OK on the motorway. Overall an easy run due to light traffic and luck missing major problems and staying well away from Paris. The situation seems to shift daily, and the protesters that we met were friendly and happy to engage in Franglais (je parlez francais comme le garcon de l'ecole primary) conversations. |

I also drove length of Spain and France returning a car from Tenerife to UK week before last.
No delays at French border, only thing amiss was toll barriers missing and a couple protests on the local roads to our 3 over night stays through france. Motorways and petrol stations were all fine. I much preferred Spain though perhaps because weather was better! 2008 Santorini Black 110 XS USW (Sold) 2015 Discovery 4.5 Black pack Firenze red XS 2008 Corris Grey 110 XS USW (sold) 2011 Santorini Black 110 XS USW (Sold) |

WindyJ iam not surprised, the uk should strike but we don't sadly, hence why the government seems to do what they want! At least the French are showing the government that they are not standing for it. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back
