Get some 2 inch blocks of alu and drill some holes in them to lower the steps by 2 inches.

Although that is a nice idea as it should be relatively cheap. I'm not sure how well it would work as these only bolt at the front and rear ends to the outriggers. I think the otherhalf might prefer flat top steps as well. 1995 300 Tdi Epsom Green - It's a keeper.

Now that looks like a good idea.
Tree sliders to protect from supermarket numpties and a lower step. Now to get my engineering head on to see if there is a way of securing the step to a tree slider for normal use which is easy enough to remove for the odd bit of greenlaning. 1995 300 Tdi Epsom Green - It's a keeper. The step slides on the tree/rockslider, I use it only if the Mrs is coming along, it is put on or taken of in a second... the picture in the other post is from the manufacturer Quadratrec where I bought it from. This the step on my vehicle:

Your side steps look like mine which are Terrafirma no space between them and the sill. My wife seems to manage OK though. Jeff

So far the solution is earplugs that way I can't hear her moaning about it and as I have a few hundred pairs left from my motorcycling days it's effectively free 1995 300 Tdi Epsom Green - It's a keeper.

She's nearly 5'10" same as me, just doesn't seem to have the bounce to get up into the Defender. 1995 300 Tdi Epsom Green - It's a keeper.

My wife has arthritis and finds it hard to pull herself up into the motor. Even at the standard height as the step is very shallow.
I have now taken off the tubular step and put standard fold-down steps on her side and kept the tubular step on my side which, as you cannot see both sides of the motor at the same time, does not look too odd. Also keeping the steps folded down affords some protection on the n/s. |
