AndrewS is that what your main dealer charged for a build slot? If so perhaps main dealers can charge what they like to secure a build slot?
I would be interested to know please. Because I might book two one to retain and one to sell 2015 HT XS 90 2008 SVX 90 2000 XS TD5 90 |

I can assure you its 500, perhaps I'm getting a good deal as I'm a good customer. It may also be 500 as they know I'm a genuine buyer and not in it to sell my build slot to make a quick buck. Please don't be offended by my comment I'm not 'having a go' just stating the facts
Feel free to give Matt Smout a call in Shukers Aberystwyth he's not there tomorrow but should be all next week Tell him I sent you his info 130's have feeling's as well you know |

Hi AndrewS thanks for the reply. I’m glad you managed to secure a build spot for £500. I think it is very much down to the dealers as to what they wish to charge.
Like you I am a extremely good customer (6 various landrovers from them over 24- years) and staunch supporter of my main dealers and have enjoyed excellent service from them. Personally I won’t be buying the first release of the new Defender or booking a build slot to sell to me there is not point in doing that it’s not going to make you a lot of money. Look forward to seeing pictures of your new Defender sometime in the future 2015 HT XS 90 2008 SVX 90 2000 XS TD5 90 |

Just rang my local dealer and placed a deposit - things are beginning to hot up. Well, perhaps tepid.

Each to their own, but why would you pay money to get a build slot on a mass produced car you’ve not even seen?

Especially if it's not going to be a limited production run. I'd rather wait till I know what it looks like in the flesh, how it would drive and being able to knock a couple of k off the list price. Maybe even wait for a used one to save even more money on it.
Probably has to do with my age. I might have a enough years left... |

Might Be worth the £1000, just to sell on the allocation in the event they come hot. (especially if you export it to Second release regions)
Is the deposit refundable if delivery is not taken? Do you undergo a credit check in dealership or can you just walk in with £1000.00? I'm on IG: https://www.instagram.com/osloblue42/ Current: TD5 '110 "Lucinda" Thread here: https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic62562.html |

It’s a fairly loose arrangement (I didn’t ask too many questions) and I paid over the phone and have signed no docs. The sales chappy said their Dealer Principle had ‘seen from a distance’ the new vehicle (more likely a mock-up), and he seemed quite confident they would be available as a 90, 110, and 130. He was of the opinion they would start at around £30k, presumably plus the dreaded.

Well, like everyone, I'm looking forward to the "New" Defender.
But there's no way I'd be putting down any money on something of which I knew virtually nothing about. Nor would I be in any rush for an "early build",....I'd rather wait until they've got all the production "glichs" sorted, all the production line guys have had a little practice to "get it right", then have a look & see what's available, and then make my decision. The modern production line should be bullet proof. So I can't see why or how mistakes will occur in production. It's not hand built any more. I remember back in the day working at a Vauxhall/Opel dealer. The amount of cars that had different trim on the left doors compared to the right was unbelievable.
I can see software being the issue if there is one. 130's have feeling's as well you know |

Wise to wait and see what exactly its got to offer I think. That's my opinion anyway.
