I learnt to drive in a Golf like that! I'd say if he pays you £300 you could take it away!

you would have to really go through that like a fine tooth comb and thats viewing it as a project. Looks like the interior has been exposed to the rain etc looking at the rear door not been shut. What are the floors and sills like etc.
Also clayton getting parts for that will be a little tricky due to the age of it, You wont be able to go into a local scrap yard and ask have you got X, Y,Z for a MK2 golf? Those sort of cars were tinned good 10 year ago plus! Another thing is can you still get new panels etc and what support does VW have too. Most dealers bin off support 10 years after a car has finished production. So a good chunk of parts will be hard to find, My 306 is starting to go that way now due to the age of it. Not many popping up in the yards now. If you want to take a punt i would say £100, that way you could just fill the thing up to its roof with scrap metal and weigh it in if it turns out to be too far gone. Cars of that era are going for a few quid now, the metros used to got for free to peanuts. Now you would be lucky to pick one up for 400! The Aseries ones really have shot up, The Mk1 turbo went very close to 4k years ago, and a van plas went for 9k! Ditto, Procta with the classic Mini's. My Mum almost gave hers away 15 years ago. Previous to that a 1973 Austin Mini Van. Again, given away now restored worth five figures.
It's just having the crystal ball...... or the crystal balls to invest in something? |

i was very close in getting a mk5 Cortina estate for £500, it would have been worth £2000 now and that's been kind! I would love to have a old ford like that one day, with a cossie engine in teaching the boy racers a lesson in respect. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back
