Has anyone used one of these yet?
https://bearmach.com/switch-assembly-rear-lamp-ba-10306 The wiring diagram that comes with it shows two totally different switch inards and all I seem to be making at the moment is a big pile of blown fuses Simply want to use it as an on / off switch with dash illumination. Brilliant thanks, it was the return wire for the tell tale light that threw me, I thought this was handled inside the switch body, I have run a signal wire back from the relay and all makes sense now,

I see that Bearmach have nicked my diagrams
The top one is the one I did for YUG000540LNF The bottom one has been slightly modified from the one I did for replacing the expensive and unreliable control unit in the D2 auxiliary lights wiring kit, with a relay and Puma heated seat switch with the D2's binnacle switch cap on it - . soo.. sorry to join a forum and immediately resurrect a two year old thread... but i'm having a heck of a time making sense of this bearmach diagram myself. i've built my plugs following schematic #2 on the sheet and i've got my relays wired (i'm rigging four floods on the roof, two floods on the ARB, and a work lamp off the back.
my brain has broken in approximately the same stage as the OP, though I haven't hooked up to power yet. i have a firm grasp of 12v electronics, but the diagram is confusing, as it seems to indicate that PIN3 is internally linked to PIN4 in the top diagram and PIN5 on the bottom diagram. i have tested the tines with my DMM, and i have continuity between PIN3 & PIN4, and not PIN3 & PIN5. that stinks because i've wired according to diagram 2 as i'd like to have their operability contingent upon my headlamps being on, and i've used colored primary wire according to all of my custom wiring and i've soldered the plugs together already. adding confusion to confusion, both of the switch illustrations do not match. i could easily follow drinkdrinkdrop's succinct instructions, swapping R30->R86 with tapping headlamp circuit->R86, but i really really really want to know what the heck this paper is talking about. thanks in advance |

Unfortunately, Bearmach's instrructions are a bit of a mess. Only diagram 1 is correct for the switch that you have and connections can be made as described by drinkdrinkdrop above, but this will give you independantly switched lights.
If you follow the diagram then this will give you lights that only work when the main beam in on. Diagram 2 is for a completely different version of the switch, I'm afraid. Diagram 2 being for a different switch explains some things... except why TF they send it out.
Thanks for clearing that up. I suppose I’m just going to have to deal with mismatched wiring. Cheers |
