Thanks dgardel, the one on my 300tdi is different to that one but ive managed to fit it without any problems
Anyone know if the pressure inside the strut is adjustable? As I dont carry my spare on the back door, it now pops open with some force, the wife might get it full in the face next time she opens the back door (no euphemisms ) Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated |

Thanks Zagato. Spent a small fortune lately, what with fitting galv chassis, galv bulkhead & resprayed to Bonatti grey. It never ends |

Galvanised chasis & bulkhead and a 300Tdi - sounds superb and will last forever. Peter

Ditto, the idea long term Defender . Did you do the work yourself? Got any pics? I'm still thinking of selling my Series rebuild once it is done and doing a TDi rebuild... |

Hey WarPig,
The strut will settle down after a little while. I have had mine on for just over 12 months and it is pretty well spot on now. My spare wheel is on a hanger, so the strut is only pushing the door. Cheers |

Unfortunately I had to get someone to rechassis my 300tdi for me. As its my daily drive, I couldnt afford to have it off the road for too long. I used a guy called Paul Marsden who has a workshp next door to Richards chassis in Rotherham. I then had a mate of mine who has a spray shop do the paintwork. Though this did mean me partially dismantling it for the respray. Ill get some photos together and post them if you like. Perhaps I'll start a new thread for you if your a good boy *Edit - here it is http://www.defender2.net/forum/post74318.html#74318 |

I'm thinking about fitting one of these gas struts to mine now. I just bought a bunch of them for a job at work (made by Camloc by Arvin Meritor) and looking at these pictures, they look pretty much identical to the Nakawakawaka ones. They're only £21 too which makes them a bit of a bargain.
