Great to see, but I would not want to be an early adopter of a new JLR product.

Went in today into my local main dealer and it’s a £1000 returnable deposit just to get your name on the first build list. No pictures, no info, no release date, my deposit NO chance 2015 HT XS 90

It's an interesting method to get a lot of mugs - sorry, optimists - to lend them cash in the run up to the launch. 1000 optimists = interest-free loan of £1M.

My thoughts exactly !! I was told I would get my Defender before the end of 2020, rather a rash statement considering they couldn’t or wouldn’t give anymore information away than what’s already online, I was told 15 people had already paid a build slot deposit...... 2015 HT XS 90

i wonder if they will launch short and long wheelbase at the same time
didnt the 90 come out followed later by the 110 i think id buy a long wheelbase new defender, but wouldn't want to put deposit down and be told only swb are being made and that lab ones would be another 6 months away or whatever ive got my name down for a suzuki jimmy, but speculation of £13k price has been replaced by actual price of £18999 for the auto plus £650 for paint, so thats £19.6k i might wait a year more and save for new defender |

Cozz, the One Ten was launched 15 months before the Ninety.

I made an “expression of interest” deposit on one yesterday, dealers have limited engine configuration details and not a lot more. There will be similar mild hybrids to what the new Evoque has as well as Ingenium 6 cylinder petrol and diesels - I was told yesterday one of the petrols will be a 380hp turbo straight 6. All engines that are not PHEV will have 48v mild hybrid tech to help reduce emissions and consumption.
I wasn’t going to ever buy a new JLR product, however in 2020 my Defender will have its 25th birthday and my Mini Countryman PHEV will be 2 and I will be looking to reduce my garage to 1 car so figured it would have to be a replacement Short wheelbase Defender PHEV rather than an I-Pace. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come 2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed! |

Me too, paid a returnable deposit to get an (hopefully) early build slot Dealer had had 16 deposits already Of course once we actually see pics / reviews then deposits should come flooding in, probably with people having to wait quite a while to get one I'm after a 110 hardtop equivalent with leather, so hopefully something along those lines will be possible Its going to reach fever pitch nearer the time, at least I've got a few months to look forward to it. I guess the entry model will still be quite high spec compared to defenders as we currently know them |

Let it be whispered that, nearer the time, there may be the possibility of selling on, at a premium, ones build slot ?
Now, I wonder how many advance-depositer's have that in mind ? Not me, by the way, for the sake of clarity. |

I'm tempted to slap an intent deposit down as they'll surely be "the car of the moment" upon release (and hence have stable residuals, maybe even profit to be made short-term), but after a very bad experience with a Range Rover the thought of buying any newly-released LR product makes my bumhole twitch.

I was just thinking if you could sell your build slot if you didn’t like what it ends up looking like and if anyone could/would sell it for more?? I won’t be buying one as I expect the price tag to be rather high.
