Nick,
Interestingly the bulletin shows a picture of a 200tdi Defender engine but instructions for Discovery/Range Rover which use a different method of securing a different dipstick tube. This problem was most prevalent on the Defender 200tdi because the dipstick tube was only secured by an olive on the tube. The olive did not in some cases secure the tube well enough and allowed the tube to move in or out affecting the oil level reading. I made a small bracket for mine to additionally support the tube using the friction of a tightly fitting rubber covered cable clip. Whilst I have a dimension for the dip stick tube it is unverified against any factory publication, so if you could find the sheet for verifying Defender tube length, that would prove very useful to me and many other Defender 200tdi engine owners ![]() Mo The Land Rover 90 - Many are called, few are chosen. 50 Shades of Pennine Grey |
