I do because it means I wear out the spare at the same time as the rest of the tyres.
I think it's important that the spare is replaced regularly and it seems silly to not make use of its tread. |

I do from time to time to try to even out the wear, even though the owners manual expressly states not to do it

No. When it was new it took a bit of trial and error of swapping the wheels/tyres around till it stopped pulling to one side. Now when I swap summer/winter twice a year I make sure they go back in the same place.

That's interesting re the manual. Didn't know that as most tire manufacturers recommend rotating.

You don't have to buy new tyres to rotate the positions, unless you meant something else?

I think what he is getting at is that if you periodically rotate the tyres to even up wear, you will generally end up with all four needing replacement at the same time. If you don't rotate them there's a good chance that only the most-worn pair will need replacing at any time.
The upside is that by replacing all four you can ensure that they all have the same tread and are the same age, both of which are good. Also, if you want to change manufacturer or tread pattern, it is easy. Or, if like me you run BFGs, when you find that the one you have been running has been superseded with a new version, you're not mixing versions. |

Yes I swap mine when I fancy. I like to buy tyres in full sets.

When my front tyres are half worn i swap them with the rears. It works out pretty good for renewing all at the same time. 130 crew cab

No I dont rotate. What I did last time is wore the fronts out, then fitted the spare to one front and bought one new tyre and then put the least worn front as my spare.
That way my spare never gets  up through age. I only had to buy one tyre this time. Looking at the wear the fronts will need doing before the rears again. So incan either get the same tyres again on the front or change all 5.
What ever happens I wont have a good tyre trashed through age. But I do higher mileages than some and my wear might be quicker as mine are mud tyres 2014 - current ..... 2003 defender td5 90 (my car) 2009 - current .... 2005 zx10r |

I run MTs and have always rotated in order to avoid the irregular wear patterns and consequent balance issues that inevitably occur with such tyres on tarmac. I also prefer to replace tyres four at a time so that they are the same age and provide consistent performance. It also makes changing from one make or tread pattern to another much easier.
