With today being the 100th year since the Armistice there has been a lot of programmes and information coming out that I was not aware of.
One bit of information was that the original Cenotaph was a wood and plaster structure. This stirred by curiosity and so went looking for some photographs of the original cenotaph. First photograph I found was HERE showing the cover over the original Cenotaph whilst the wooden one was being built in 1919. This is a photo of the original wooden cenotaph here . This took me back a bit as I thought it was an early grainy photo of the Portland stone one which exists now. Apparently it was not but the wood and plaster one which the Portland stone one was made. More Cenotaph information here Brendan |

"cenotaph
/ˈsɛnətɑːf,ˈsɛnətaf/Submit noun a monument to someone buried elsewhere, especially one commemorating people who died in a war." I had the privilege to march past it in 2007 and its certainly a humbling experience and one I will never forget. a monument for all those that have fallen |
