Fuel Filler Cap Key
This might sound like a strange question, but are all the filler caps the same?

What I mean is, is there just one key that fits all caps?

I've just ordered a genuine replacement cap (from ebay) and it's come and the key is the same key as the one I already had!?!? Question

Same code on the key too. Craig Rogers

No, when I had to get a replacement cap it came with new keys, and they are entirely different to the first cap's keys.

I suspect that there probably aren't many different keys however, but still something of a co-incidence though! Perhaps you should buy a lottery ticket if you're on a winning streak.

On a different but related subject, in the handbook the procedure for using the locking cap says that by turning the key only half-way you don't need to use the key to lock the cap when replacing it. I cannot get this procedure to work - my cap only seems to have two settings, locked or unlocked, and the instructions seem to be nonsense. Has anyone found that they do work?

A bit like the locking wheel nut adaptor, i believe there is only 10 variants which can all be bought off Ebay for £50.... there was a spate of rear door spares going walkies round here. 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

Lottery ticket bought for tonight! Smile

Even if there were only 10 variants (suspect a bit more than that with the keys), it's still a big coincidence!!!!

What am I gonna do with that £40M? Craig Rogers
