They look pretty similar. That would account for the gaiter being pretty stressed. Cheers.

Ok. Seats and cubby box are now back in, along with the old matting. No 2 son’s budget is feeling quite stretched so we will focus on the MoT and finish the glossy bits afterwards. We’ve still got some painting and reassembling to do, but the bigger job is the steering box. I’ve done one before but not for 15 years and am seem to remember that it involved some brute strength and ignorance. More to follow.

We’ve got an eye on the next project... turning my 110 DCPU into a USW. have just won some station wagon sides on eBay so I need to get them covered in aluminium sheet. And there’s the small matter of finding a roof and a complete rear door assembly in good nick. The chassis and engine are sound but I need some Td5 tuning magic. And some new prop shaft UJs. And some doors. The list goes on Shocked

And a gratuitous daylight shot before we’d painted the rear load area...

Cheers. Very kind. It should be quite smart when we’re done. However I feel a bit humbled when I see some of the other threads on here!

Colour mismatch is (I hope) due to wet paint and only one coat.

Quick update:

Roof is bolted back on with a new roof/windscreen seal (that was a pig to get in!).
Back door is on, with centre hinge holes drilled and etch primed.
Doors are on with etch primed hinges but the hinge bolts are too short so new security bolts are on the way.
Door seals are all back on.
Door mirrors are etch primed ready for black paint.

Next bits:

New door bolts.
Transfer door locks and glazing for all three doors.
Re-paint outside surface of bulkhead.
New rear door lower seal.
Second coat of paint for exterior.
New steering box.
Re-painted wheels.
New A/T tyres.
Grease propshafts.

Lots more too - but the pile of bits we stripped off is getting ever smaller. Work is really busy so I'm aiming for end Feb for MoT with an aspiration to get it all done before then.

V8 running really well.
