I think my 2011 my 90 does around 300 miles per tank full, it does 4.7 miles a day to and from work in city traffic.
I`ve yet to take it on a long run, the furthest it`s been with me is the 82 miles it did when we brought it home so far in six months it`s done 900 miles
I`ve filled it up four times since I`ve brought it, mind you it has spent a total of six weeks in the dealers.
If you want poor fuel cons get a disco 4 as a loan car Shocked they love diesel it doubled my out goings, but it was a very nice car.
Still I did`ent buy it for the fuel economy it`s better than my last series 3. I do 3000 miles a year max, I do feel for those who are high mileage drivers.

What I`am really finding hard is it`s lack of oil consumption, I`ve nearly always had a Vauxhall and they love oil, so every other Friday I check it and theirs still oil innit Very Happy
For an ex Vectra owner this is very odd !!!! Excuse the spelling I`am better with spanners and wires.

Martin - you should take that Defender for a decent run soon before it all sludges/seizes up. Get all the components/fluids up to normal working temperatures and that exhaust de-clogged.

Will do, it`s off on a 25 mile run on Monday so that should help, I do take it on a jolly every Friday night on my way from work for that very reason.
It only smokes for a second or to on full throttle after a 7 mlie run so that should help.
My old Vectra would black smoke like you would`ent believe after a week tootling around town, don`t floor your car for the sake of it if there is a plain clothes copper behind you they did`ent like it Laughing
At some point soon we hope to take it to north wales that should clear the cobwebs, it`s due a full service and mot next month so everything will get changed.
The brakes have already seized up due to lack of use, this was a six monthly job on the Vectra so no change there. Excuse the spelling I`am better with spanners and wires.

I've just filled up my new 110 XS for the second time. With a combination of A roads, B roads, a bit of towing and 140 miles of motorway driving I got 352 miles to the fuel light. As had been said, you don't buy a defender if you're worried about mpg, but having said that I'm pretty chuffed!

Just to add to this debate, I calculated my MPG on the last tankful and it was 26.3 on a 110 Double Cab with about 11,000 miles on the clock. This was a mixture of motorway and dual carriageway driving in the main, with about 20 miles around country lanes. It did 394 miles until the light came on.

I'm quite pleased with this - better than our D3 auto!

I've just done a 260+ mile trip in my brand new 2014 110 van (2.2) and it averaged 28.19 mpg for the first 134 miles of mainly motorway 70mph cruising. It had covered only 89 miles from new before I set off and I'd filled it to the brim. I re-filled it at half way to see just what it was achieving.

I don't know about the second half of the journey as I will not be putting any more fuel in again until it's down to about 1/4 of a tank. No point in lugging a load of extra weight about.

I'll admit I was happy with what it managed. It was pretty much what I was expecting.

I've had a change of job in the last couple of months and now hardly ever drive on the motorway and the effect on mpg is v.noticeable.

Figures for 110 Utility Wagon 2.2 are:

For the last 20k miles I've averaged 22.5 mpg

Now that I'm mainly on A roads I'm getting 27.5mpg (a 22% increase!!) which equated to 407miles on a tank with a bit to spare...

28mpg with a small trailer behind. But that was with exactly 90km/h for most of the time.
Basically standard car except for the 255/85 MTs.

Maybe with 85km/h and commuting behind a big lorry ALL the time could get lead to phantastic figures. But in real world ...

I would be interested what people get when they de-DPF-ed and de-CAT-ed a 2.2TDCi

That's a bit odd. I've got a 2015 110 with 12k miles and I get between 25-29 mpg with a roof tent on all year round.

While on hols in Ireland last year I got 31.2mpg in my 90. Their roads mostly at about 50mph. Whereas locally recently doing short trips and a bit of motorway it's about 26mpg. So for me about as expected.

The most ridiculous part of firing the main injectors on exhaust stroke is that it is totally uneccessary to light off the dpf for regeneration.

Earlier cars with dpf often had a extra injector on the exhaust manifold. So no oil contamination. Firing the main injectors saves the manufacturer a few quid as it's just a software tweak.

Madness !

" Remap with the thought of increased fuel economy "
Mr PB did my remap and although great I'm now down an extra 50 miles per tank from 340 to 290 so can forget about any savings on my pocket.
290 miles Rolling Eyes and I'm still picking up my back teeth and innards from laughing at the member who's getting 500+ Rolling with laughter
