Falklands trip
Just a few of the vehicles we have been using in the last few days 8000 miles away.

On a 10 day round the island/s trip, fly and then into a 4x4 each day. Cracking trip and great to see the sites of 1982 and show our respects.

Great photos! Tis a very long way away! What is the route to get there? I assume they don't do direct flights? James

Which locations?
We visited in 2011, I managed to convince the wife that it was the ideal holiday destination - it must have worked as we're planning on returning next year.
Landrovers everywhere, watch out for 'johnny rooks' they'll steal anything they can carry.
Those FIGAS planes are amazing, the pilots can land almost sideways in the ever-present Falklands winds.
Best of all, the locals are all really fantastic.

Would be a wonderful location to visit, and with respect to the Falklands,...a couple of a bit off topic things come to mind.
Has anyone read "Vulcan 607"?, the book about the Vulcan bombing during the Falklands War, and secondly, I read in the Press recently that in view of Brexit, Argentina thinks it may have another excuse to claim the Falklands as their own again?

We have flown direct via Brize Norton with the raf via Cape Verde.

1 day fly
2 days goose green and San Carlos bay
2 days port Howard
2 days pebble island
2 days Stanley
Day 9 fly back.

Trip is mixed, inc off roading, battle tours at all locations, flying, fishing (brown trout) and some game shooting as we have FI licences.

It’s a trip we planned a year ago.

We had a day there a couple of years back, and agree it’s a wonderful place.
I popped into the Landy dealers there and bought a couple of Falkland Land Rover dealer stickers which now have pride of place in the back window of my 90.

To be honest, I think with the current state of the Argentine military vs the UK one, they don't have the slightest of chances compared to the situation in the 80's...

Vulcan 607 - an amazing tale of grit & determination - oh, and a shed load of luck! Well worth the read.
