I have a pair of Le Chameau Vieronzard, neoprene lined for warmth. I use them in the winter for walking around my paddocks and mucking out. I have a number of friends who shoot and most seem to have Le Chameau for the wet and the snow.

I've used Altberg Gamekeeper boots for the last 6 or 7 years. Brilliant boots. Very comfortable and always keep my feet dry. I go picking up 2 or 3 times a week. I've bought a new pair every couple of years so I've now got 3 pairs so that I always have a dry pair to wear.

We farm and shoot so wear work boots every hour of every day. I’ve had Chameau boots and they're great but are very sturdy and in my opinion a bit too rigid for all day use. Aigle used to make some great all rounder country boots so may be worth a look at .
My wife runs a horse business and has sworn by Ariats for years and so i did some research and found that they did a gents work / hunting boot. I’m so glad I did as they’re unbelievably comfortable, waterproof and strong. The price is at the top end but no more than the Chameaus and so much less rigid. Found very little to be warmer than Grubs. Did quite a lot of sitting around in high seats in them and beautifully warm, not too hot when hill stalking and working hard.
Extremely comfortable to boot. Only thing I would say is that I do abuse them and I rarely make them last more than a year. But they do get used everyday during the winter for a 5 mile dog walk at the minimum. Bit annoyed that I've discovered stalking on Saturday I've got a leak in the heel of one, might see if I can glue it up to make them last a few months more. Having said that I do keep buying them. Depends on your feet, wide or narrow fit? High or low arch? High or low instep? Terrain covered? High 10inch for ankle stability or low ankle flex?

Another vote here for the Meindl Dovre, brilliant boot that is comfy straight out the box. I also have Haix which are ok but a bit on the heavy side, Salomon which were totally rubbish and leaked from day one! I also have a pair of old faithful Berghaus Goretex fabric boots which have lasted for YEARS! They look scabby now so I have glued them into a pair of Yeti Gaiters so they can still be used as back up boots. Also have a pair of leather Harkilla goretex wellies which are very comfy and decent boots and would recommend them. If I was needing a pair tomorrow (which clearly I am not) I would go out and buy the Meindl for sure  |

Thanks for the replies so far. It seems the usual suspects are still the main contenders. I purposely never mentioned the boots I am replacing, but they are on the list
 And only be replaced due to overuse !!
I might try and find these to try as a second boot....
They look a bit more formal and less clunky...... Thanks all  |

Can't go wrong with Lowa boots, I wear the Zephyr boots everyday in construction for about 16 hours
Very comfy and goretex version are apparently waterproof |

Another vote for Lowa.
I wear mine all year for stalking, shooting, beating, walking the dogs and around the farm. They are 3 years old now, very comfy and have never leaked. Require minimal looking after. The sole will wear out before the rest of the boot does. Mine are lighter wieght ones (can't remeber the exact model) so that I can wear them all year, not too hot in the summer, warm enough with thicker socks in the winter. 1988 110 200TDi Hard Top |
