Gearboxes leak... not much you can do about it.
The solution maybe the factory drip and sound proofing panels; https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/117-AWR5428-Lan...img][/img] https://www.landroverworkshop.com/diagrams...ly_52794#1 |

Yeah, I appreciate the transfer box leaks but it would be good if it didnt. Prevention rather than catching it in a drop tray would be my preference but thanks very much for the link.

Of course, but as an immediate "there you go hunny all sorted now" solution the drip tray would give you the time to track the location of the weeping oil.

From experience there are 3 common leak points from the LT230:
1. The inspection cover on the base; 2. The drain plug washer/threads; 3. The intermediate shaft seals (common and hardest to fix). Steve 02' 110 TD5 Double Cab Rebuild Thread |

Finally got around to sorting the intermediate shaft leak 2 weeks ago and still all good...

My intermediate seal is leaking quite badly. It's a pain as it leaves the back of the truck covered with oil spots which dirt then sticks to.
Suppose I should summon up the enthusiasm to remove the t/box and change a £2 seal... |

Mine is also leaking from the intermediate seal. Sprays oil up the back of the truck or the front of any trailer I happen to be pulling.
I have a feeling mine needs the full sleeving treatment however, as it's done 210k, dropped most of it's oil at least once (by a previous owner I might add), and whines like a banshee from 35-45 mph. So I really just need a new tbox |
