I believe that Richards Chassis are now making replacement chassis for all types of Series One (now that the great Series One Chassis IPR Debacle is resolved).

Tell me more about the chassis rights issue (or a link)? Shocked

Richards don't list or seem advertise S1 chassis - they specifically say they don't do them Sad  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

There's a full summary on the LRS1C forum, and if you are a member then that will tell you the story best. In essence, in there was a tripartite manufacturing agreement between Richards Chassis, the Land Rover Serier One Club, and an unspecified third party, all of whom provided key parts of the production process. The S1C owned the jigs for the production, the third party had provided detail design data and manufacturing information, and RC actually built the chassis.

For reasons which are as far as I know not public, the third party dropped out of the agreement and there followed a prolonged legal debate about who actually owned what. The S1C faced legal action arising from claims that it had infringed the IPR of the third party, and as far as I know this is potentially still ongoing. I believe the RC has now bought the jig from the S1C and this has enabled manufacture to recommence independent from any ongoing litigation and independent of the LRS1C. The LRS1C has no involvement in the future production of chassis.

I suggests that a phone call to Richards Chassis would be worthwhile. Although Series One chassis are not listed on the website, I am certain that they now do make them (whether they make all wheelbases and options yet I don't know).

Richards are making them but there are other options.

I’ve gone else where for my 107 mainly due to the way the whole LRSOC monopoly was handled.

I’ll PM you!

Martin,
Richards Approached the LRSOC to buy the chassis jig and this was agreed with as Blackwolf says with no further involvement from the Club. They do not seem to advertise that they will make a S1 chassis but they will do. They are considerably dearer than a Series 2/3 chassis.
