Its started to get silly again, and I think we are in for another crash again like we had 10 years ago.
I used to work for asda, and I tell you what, through out the years I worked there, I saw prices rise then they just hiked up! It was the odd 1p to start with then 20p then into £1s! I remember saying to a lass i was with, we were chatting about the 90s when you could pick up things for 30p, I said you wont pick anything up for 30p now! I think the average mars bar is about 70p?? Anyone else remember Richard Stilgoe on BBC Nationwide when he sang about petrol hitting £1 per gallon?

Can not remember the song but a popular opinion at the time was that the world was about to end.
How could we all afford fuel that price! At £1 a gallon that is about 22p a litre! Brendan |

I know this is 5 months ago, but is it me or is starting to hit close to 1.35 per litre of diesel and petrol is starting to get into the 1.30s too. I have to do resort in keeping the land rover closer to the max rather than letting it go down to a half! still bloody expensive! £25 for just over a quarter of a tank! £1.34 down my way or an £82 fill up last night
So much for last weeks news about a 3p cut per litre. Instant increase on fuel when the suppliers say so, when the price falls, hey no hurry! 2010 XS USW 1957 Series One 88 diesel 1958 Series One 88 4x2 |

I have noticed that with shell garages some are more than others. I know BPs ultra stuff is in to the 1.40s now, I wasn't keen on filling my tank up with that again, and I am not planning on too again, until the prices come back down again ( which I can see these staying as they are now) I recon next year we will be into the 1.40s with the regular stuff across the board. Supermarkets didn't drop the prices enough to make it noticeable at all. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back Success is 90% Inspiration and 4 minutes Preparation # you can make it! |

In the last three days I've pumped £230 of diesel into my Disco2 and Defender! Oh how it hurts, particularly as I can (just) remember when petrol cost 4/11 per gallon (that's just under 25p for you youngsters).
When I started work I drove a Triumph 2000 Mk1 estate which (IIRC) had a 14 gallon tank. I could fill it for under a tenner. |

I am glad I don't have to drive the Defender everyday with these recent fuel prices... Showing no sign of dropping anytime soon either

I saw just over £1.50 / ltr on the motorway the other day (BP) so I dread think how much the ultimate would have cost ! ?
perhaps I'll keep my bio-diesel making gear after all. |

£1.55 at BP on the A1 (English side of the border) on Sunday. Fortunately, had 3/4 tank.
