There are H plate Ninetys.
H came in on 1 Aug 1990. Defenders with the 200Tdi were launched Sept 1990. So only about a month's worth of H plate Ninetys, and none had the Tdi. So what Richcl has is a very late Ninety with a Diesel Turbo engine (just seen in one of the photos). They should have "LAND ROVER 90" above the grille and the green/gold Land Rover plastic oval clipped on the grille. (These badges were fitted to Ninetys, I believe from late 1989 when the Discovery was launched). Not many of these late ones about so worth looking after. |

Looking better each time you do something. My seats had been re-covered when I got him. This summer I refurbished the seat frames and it lifted the interior again. I also stripped and re-painted my steel wheels. It always surprises me when little jobs seem to make a big difference visually. Well done chap

Nice 90! Did you get the retrim kit from Exmoor trim or another supplier? Looking to retrim my seats at some point and the Exmoor kit looks by far the best quality but rather expensive compared to cheap ebay jobbies - just trying to work out if Exmoor is worth the extra money. The re-trim kit was bought from Paddock Spares.
A comprehensive kit, and only took an hour to do each seat. https://www.paddockspares.com/da5627-vinyl...m-kit.html It really has made a difference to the interior, tidied it up nice. |

Great job!
I think my OCD would mean I would have to do the middle seat too! |

Today I fitted an ARB winch bumper, and started the wiring loom to the spot lights, touched up the bodywork and knocked out a few dents.
Next jobs, rear spare wheel carrier and an electric winch. Click image to enlarge |

My 90 has been off the road without an MOT for a while now, so earlier this month I took it for an MOT, it failed.
Nothing major front suspension bush and the lower bulkhead bracket that secures the bulkhead to the chassis. I've spent two days this week doing the work, one day spent changing the front suspension bushes and today taking the car apart to weld the new chassis bracket on. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Finished the day off with the lower bracket welded into place. Just rust proofing and painting to do now, then put all the panels, door on. The RHS front wing was dented in several places, so with the outer wing removed to repair the bulkhead I thought I'd try some basic panel beating (2lb lump hammer and block of wood!).
It didn't turn out to bad and I'm pleased with the result. Defender's are supposed to be a bit dented, right? Before After Click image to enlarge |
