Yes there are a lot of assumptions to be made from the mule.

Hi all, been lurking here for a while, and without giving too much away for obvious reasons,...what you are in fact looking at is the pickup variant. I also know because of certain other posistion / jobs I have held over the years that a good many will be doubting anything a “ newcomer “ may say. That is entirely understandable, and to be expected, however I also like many of you both for and against any reincarnation of an undoubtable legend are considering it as a replacement for my current 2.5 yr old vehicle which is from the current JLR range. I will be keeping my info to a minimum,... again for obvious reasons. My main concerns do not involve the capabilities of the new wheelbase models..... they are very very good indeed..... my concerns invoke how the marketing and pricing of this vehicle is going to spilt opinions and wallets !!

There's probably a variety of Mules out there, just to confuse us.

Interesting. I was wondering if the rear prosthetics were covering a soft top...but a truck bed? The rear hatch throws me off. If JLR wants to hit its sales numbers they had better make plenty available in an affordable trim level. In the US, There are a few Wranglers on every street corner and there plenty of Americans itching for Something different that is off road worthy to compete with a Wrangler....The Defender name will attract many buyers here as well. Also, Wranglers have become pricey so JLR shouldn’t have any excuses getting a trim level priced to compete. A well equipped Rubicon approaches $57K USD. Substantial Wranglers are in the $47-$51k range....but I’m sure JLR knows this LOL! We also know and expect to see some $70-$80K Defender trim levels. But if they price them all at that range, they wont hit their numbers. Surely JLR knows this as well. Once all that camo comes off, I’m certain this will be our next vehicle. |

Its not... It has an independent suspension setup with all the pitfalls that this type of arrangement brings. Ever owned one? Why do even KOH top racers go over to independent suspension then? Sorry but the 2 pictures are a bad example and by the way you don't need massive flex. What you want is a balanced car, hence the classic RR was such a great performer in standard spec. m Last edited by 100inch on 7th Oct 2018 9:42pm. Edited 1 time in total |

JLR know that an increasing number of manufacturers are getting into this key market, with the American buyers in particular,... hence Mercedes X . The likes of VW, Nissan and Mitsubishi, along with their Renault and Fiat clones already know that many buyers will spend a lot of money on these vehicles, And JLR knows this could be a volume maker to make the numbers add up. Ford have got a good strategy to copy,... make a standard pick up range,... and then start make performance variants like the raptor etc. Now think about a standard LR pick up,.... and then think about what you would call your bigger more unsubtle super priced variant,.... DEFENDER!! maybe ? ...... watch this space!!

Isn't the classic RR a vehicle with two live axles? Defender 110 SW MY2011 2.4tdci decat, no EGR Jeep Wrangler YJ 1990 4.0. Front 78' Dana 60, Rear CUCV 14 bolt |

Isn't it always boom or bust though...
There's never enough info in those articles to u nderstand any long term trends or issues, month on month figures are pretty useless. |

Was at my dealer this afternoon to pick up a set of new HD Wolf winter wheels.
Briefly discussed the recent appearance of a variety of mule pictures on the road. This is all part of the JLR scenario to slowly release bits and pieces of info to the public, something which usually preceeds a launch within a few months thereafter. One thing my dealer said today is that "the new one won't have anything to do with the old cubes anymore, so you better take care of your SVX...". Nothing news in there really, just confirmation of what we all knew already. Well, for starters, the SVX will get brand new winter tires later this week, the entire truck and especially the chassis got a very thorough clean today, and now that the weather still continues extremely dry and mild here, next week it will spend a full week at Carrosserie LEU near Basel for a full Dinitrol top up treatment. Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |

The insider comment makes sense about this mule being a pickup when you look how it dips in behind the back doors to the "fake" rear section. |
