Can anyone tell me what the genuine original colours would be for a 1984 90 V8? I found a really good site for classic range rovers that had the original sales brochures with colours options etc which was superb but I can't find an equivalent for the Defender.
Any help gratefully received. Ah, so you've found V8 Ninetys that were made in 1984 James?
The 1984 Brochure doesn't mention a V8 for the Ninety. The colours in 1984 were: Stratos Blue,Trident Green, Slate Grey, Masai Red, Ivory White, Marine Blue, Bronze Green and Roan Brown. Specialist conversions were just White. I've just seen Defender9's reply. My colour list is from the first (1984) brochure LR 335. Def9's colours I suspect are from brochure LR335E, which is a later version as the E suffix suggests. There had been a number of colour changes during the earlier versions, as the factory changed the colour options, hence the differences in our two lists. |

I was hoping Slidey would give the definitive answer although my brochure is LR335

Thanks guys that's brilliant.
Slidey are you suggesting a B reg September 1984 wouldn't be an original V8? I think the Ninety V8 was launched in May 1985, mine is fairly early being October 85. There may have been a few prototypes prior to May but I’m sure Slidey would know |

How could you tell if the engine is original? James

V5 has it as September 1984 and I'm told 3.5V8 is original. James

Well that's interesting! Mind you, I've "been told" a lot of things over the years. But the other thing I've learnt is that you never know it all. Rallysteve's suggestion and the engine number will help. (Defender9 will more than likely know if it seems correct, as I don't have records for early V8 Ninetys). More research please James! |

Are you sure it does not have a suffix, as Venetian Red and Arizona Tan are not in my LR335? Don't look at the number at the bottom of the back page. Look at the Publication Number at the bottom of the list of colours on the penultimate page. |

Yes you are right, I only looked on the back page, it does have the suffix E on the page with the colours, need to look more closely obviously
