Faster turbo spool. Ideally need a less restrictive midbox too Instagram @defender_ventures

Mine's never had a cat, so can't directly compare, but I did notice a difference in how fast the turbo spooled when I swapped my mid box for straight pipe.

This is going off my 306 HDI which did have a CAT, I removed the thing for the mot, I found the turbo spools a lot quicker and a little more grunt. I later fitted a stainless steal Exhaust which opened the power up too. As bankz5152 says.
I cannot see the point of a CAT on a diesel, for what use it does. I removed it off the 300 TDI and binned the EGR system too. Also I did block off the EGR on the Peugeot too, which saved the engines inlet. It might be worth having the Map tweaked a little bit more, since you have binned CAT off. I must say the turbo lag does seem reduced, for instance when changing gear there’s no delay in pickup like there was before.
The CAT was a Britpart one and l’m not sure it was working anyway. |

Check the exhaust and intercooler pipes for any leaks too, just in case. With the system been more free to flow, it lets the turbo spool quicker. I found the HDIs turbo was louder when it spools.
Also it will go through an mot too, as the cat does square root of all on a diesel. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back Success is 90% Inspiration and 4 minutes Preparation # you can make it! |

Further update.
Engine revs better and makes more speed on hills than it did before. Not a lot, but definitely better. Also can change up at around 2,200rpm going up hill where before l had to change at 2,500rpm because there was a short delay for the turbo boost to come back. |

Yeah it will help with the pulling power as the system isn't as restricted. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back
